South African to Lead Global Research Institute IIASA in Laxenburg near Vienna

IAEA: What Did the 62nd General Conference at the VIC in Vienna Achieve?

Nearly 2,600 participants attended this year’s event at VIC Vienna International Centre, including delegates from 153 of the IAEA’s 170 Member States, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and the media. By the end of the 62nd IAEA General Conference, 91 Member States have pledged to the Technical Cooperation Fund for 2019. Official Visit of the Belgian Royal Couple to Vienna

Vienna International School Turned 40 Years Old

Agressive Southern Chinese Airline Launches Shenzhen-Vienna Service

The South Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines is pushing ahead with its expansion into Europe by adding Vienna - Shenzhen as the next non-stop route after Zurich at the end of August. The new twice-weekly flights will take off on October 20th, connecting Vienna with Shenzhen on Thursdays and Saturdays using the airline's Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft (see picture).

Swiss Pharmaceutical Group Invests 142 Million Euros in its Viennese Research Facilities

The international pharmaceutical group Octapharma is expanding its R&D location in Vienna. After two and a half years of construction, the company celebrated the opening of a new research and development center. Together with two other major investments up to 2021, the total investment sum for all three projects will amount to 142 million euros. Since the beginning of 2017, 170 new jobs have been created. Financial Times Ranking - Business School "WU Vienna" Remains Midfield Only

In the latest overall ranking of all European business schools published by renowned newspaper "Financial Times", WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) ranked only 41st out of a total of 95 European business schools in the overall ranking. Bratislava - Vienna Railway Line Extended


The two EU capitals Vienna and Bratislava are approaching each other. After a construction period of about two years, representatives of Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), the EU, the City of Vienna and the Province of Lower Austria opened the first part, the so-called "Vienna section" of the Vienna - Bratislava line extension. The completion of the second part, the so-called "Lower Austrian Section", will last until 2023. The journey time from the main railway station in Vienna (Hauptbahnhof-Wien) to the main railway station in Bratislava (Bratislava hlavná stanica) will be reduced from 66 minutes to 40 minutes.

Vienna's Schönbrunn Zoo is Europe's Best


The Schönbrunn Zoo in the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace in the 13th district of Vienna was founded by the Imperial Habsburgs in 1752. At 266 years of age, it is not only the oldest zoo in the world to still exist, but has also been named Europe's best zoo for the fifth time in succession.
