In Vienna there are 1,661 positive coronavirus test results so far. As of today, 34 people in Vienna have died of the corona virus and 98 have recovered. Throughout Austria there are 11,171 confirmed COVID-19 infections, 168 deaths and 2,022 patients have recovered.

Coronavirus in Austria: Update

In the meantime, the coronavirus pandemic has hit Austria hard, and deaths and infections due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are on the rise. New officially confirmed cases of disease are constantly being added. Despite this outbreak in Austria, the situation looks much worse elsewhere. Austrian Airlines Terminates Flight Operations

Austrian Airlines is temporarily suspending its regular flight operations from Wednesday night. The last flight will arrive in Vienna on Thursday morning from Chicago. All further flights until at least March 28, 2020, or "until further notice" are cancelled. The airline is aware of its responsibility, will cooperate with the Austrian government and try to bring home as many Austrians as possible. One long-haul and one medium-haul aircraft will remain in use for emergency and relief flights.

State of Emergency in Austria: Federal Government Appeals to Population

The Federal Government informed about further necessary steps and the current situation regarding coronavirus. From Monday, March 16, 2020, social life will be reduced to a minimum. Air and train traffic to Switzerland, Spain and France will be suspended. Many shops will be closed, with the exception of those necessary for basic services. Public transport will be maintained. With a few exceptions, cafés, restaurants and bars will only be open until 3 p.m. from Monday onwards. Visitors are prohibited in all hospitals.

Highest Security Level: Austria also Suspends Travelling with Switzerland, Spain and France
