Anti-Semitism in Austria: IKG Records Dramatic Increase in Anti-Semitic Incidents
The Jewish Community Vienna (IKG) warns of a worrying increase in anti-Semitic incidents in Austria. In the first half of 2024, the IKG's anti-Semitism reporting office registered a total of 808 anti-Semitic attacks and threats - an increase of around 160 percent compared to the previous year.

Austria Strengthens Partnership With Yad Vashem in the Fight Against Anti-Semitism

17,000 Descendants of Nazi Victims Demand Austrian Citizenship
In the one year since the change in the Citizenship Act allowed the descendants of victims of Nazi persecution the right to Austrian citizenship, the Vienna Municipal Department 35 (MA 35) has received nearly 17,000 applications. Around 10,000 of these applications still need to be processed. Vienna Islamist Terror Attack: Live Updates
The attack by an Islamist terrorist began on Monday evening in downtown Vienna directly in front of a synagogue. Five people died, including the suspect. The dead suspect, a 20-year-old man with Albanian roots and parents from North Macedonia, was a sympathizer of the terrorist militia Islamic State and possessed both, the Austrian and the Macedonian citizenship. Twenty-two people were injured, some in critical condition. Three days of state mourning was decided. The investigations are running at full speed. However, it is now assumed that there was only one suspect.
