Indian Embassy Vienna: 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

On the occasion of the Gandhi Jayanti National Day on October 2, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi in 1869, revered as the father of the Indian nation, the Embassy of India in Vienna organized two events with Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna, an "Eminent Citizen" of India; a talk titled "Popular Diplomacy and the Philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi" at the Vienna International Center, and a lecture on "Transformational Leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and its Relevance in Contemporary World".

IAEA Memorial Ceremony in Honour of Director General Yukiya Amano

At a memorial service held at IAEA headquarters in Vienna in the presence of Mrs. Yukika Amano, dignitaries, diplomats, IAEA colleagues and member states paid tribute to late Director General Yukiya Amano, who passed away last month. Global Report on Trafficking in Persons Launched in Vienna

The report by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) was presented by UNODC Executive Director Yury Fedotov at a special event of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) with Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl. Yuri Viktorovich Fedotov (born 1947) is a high level diplomat of the Russian Federation. Since 2010 he has served as the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna with the rank of Under-Secretary-General, after having previously served as the Ambassador of Russia to the United Kingdom.

Human Trafficking: Ban Ki-moon Attendes UN Trust Fund for Victims Event in Vienna

The UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking in Persons received a US$ 250,000 boost in donations from the private sector at a fund-raising event in Vienna, attended by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, UNODC Executive Director Yury Fedotov and fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. Proceeds from the event will go directly to grassroots organizations that rescue, shelter and reintegrate victims into society.
