On International Women’s Day, the Viennese Lines – Wiener Linien have thought of something special. They renamed the U3 metro station “Herrengasse” to “Frauengasse”. In English, this would mean changing the name from “Men’s Lane” to “Women’s Lane”.

Vienna Rays of Hope "Lichtblicke" 2022 Opened
Until November 27, twelve Viennese locations will be transformed into so-called Chromotopia with white light lines and light images visible from afar. Under the artistic direction of Victoria Coeln, international artists are designing light interventions that can be seen in the evening and early morning hours and invite participation. For the first time, there will also be augmented reality, which will allow virtual light objects to float in the Chromotopia and merge with the light images.

Klimaticket: Austrian Low-Priced Public Transport Ticket Launches on 26 October
After long and intensive negotiations, a "milestone" has now been reached for public transport and climate-friendly mobility throughout Austria, Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler was pleased to announce the launch of the "Klimaticket" (climate ticket) from October 26, 2021. With the ticket, public transport users will in future be able to travel throughout Austria for one year for 1,095 euros. A joint ticket for the entire eastern region (Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland) is also available at 915 euros per year.

Construction Works for Vienna's New Metro Line Have Begun
The construction works for Vienna's public transport extension has begun. The U2xU5 project, which will result in a whole new metro, the U5, and an extension of the current U2 line is set to be completed by 2026 and 2028, respectively. Austria's Federal Ministers for Finance and Climate Protection as well as Vienna's City Councillor for Public Transport took part in the groundbreaking ceremony.

Metro Line U2 Is Now Going More Often to Seestadt
The Wiener Linien (Viennese Public Transport Lines) are starting to provide more U2 metros to the end station Seestadt just in time with the start of schools on September 7. From next week on, not only in the morning but also in the afternoon and evening every metro will go to the final station.
