United Nations Vienna: Newton's Space Sapling Planted
The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs was provided with a special apple tree grown from seeds which were taken into space, and the Ambassador of the UK, Corinne Kitsell and UNOOSA Director Simonetta Di Pippo planted the sapling which can be seen by visitors to the Space Exhibition at the VIC.

Austria Celebrates 40-Year Anniversary of Membership with European Space Agency
Austria has been part of the European Space Agency (ESA) for 40 years. Since 1981, Austria's domestic businesses, which are specialized in the field of space industry, have benefited from the membership, while "with the help of space research, Austria can take better and more effective action against the climate crisis", according to Austria's Climate Minister Leonore Gewessler.

European Space Agency Appoints Austrian Director General
The European Space Agency (ESA) has appointed an Austrian as its Director General. Dr. Josef Aschbacher will be taking over the position as the head of the ESA in July 2021 and will serve for four years. The Austrian has worked for the ESA several decades already and will now enter the "cockpit" of the Agency.
