Significant Decline in Used Car Registrations

Registrations of used motor vehicles in July 2011: -7.5%; passenger cars -6.5%, lorries -11.6%.

According to Statistics Austria, a total of 87,617 registrations of used motor vehicles was observed in July 2011, 7.5% less than in the same month in 2010. Used passenger car registrations (69,695 units) decreased by 6.5%.

Lorries (-11.6%) as well as tractors used for agriculture and forestry (-4.8%) recorded a negative result, whereas articulated lorries (+1.3%; +2 units) showed low positive figures. The two-wheelers reported decreases in July 2011: motorcycles (-13.0%), scooters (-11.7%) and lightweight motorcycles (-11.6%).

All of the top 10 brands of used passenger cars recorded negative results: Fiat (incl. Abarth; -15.9%), Mazda (-10.8%), Renault (incl. Dacia; -8.9%), BMW (incl. Mini; -7.1%), VW (-6.8%), Ford (-6.1%), Mercedes (incl. Smart and Maybach; -5.4%), Opel (-4.4%), Peugeot (-3.3%) and Audi (-2.8%).
