Former Vice-Chancellor and Finance Minister Wilhelm Molterer is nominanted as candidate for Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB).

Finance Minister Josef Pröll (ÖVP) has nominated his predecessor for the Vice Presidency of the EIB. Molterer imposed himself in the election procedure over the former ECB Director Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell, preferred by the SPÖ coalition partner. However, no negotiations on the nomination were allegedly held between the parties.
