The Belgian Peter Praet succeeds the Austrian Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell as new member of the Executive Board of the ECB (European Central Bank).

The Council of EU Finance Ministers decided yesterday to appoint Praet (62) as new Board member of the European Central Bank. The vote of the Council of Ministers was unanimous and clearly did not support the President of the Slovak National Bank, Elena Kohutikova.
