Registration of new passenger cars increased by 7.8%

New vehicle registrations in Austria in first quarter 2011: +15.4%; passenger cars +15.7%, almost one-third more lorries.

According to Statistics Austria, a total of 35 869 new passenger cars were registered in March 2011, by 7.8% more than in the same month of the previous year. The increase of diesel-driven passenger cars (share: 51.1%) amounted to 15.8%; petrol-driven ones (incl. flex-fuel (E85) vehicles; share: 48.1%; -0.5%) reported a minimal drop.
