An increase of 6.7% was recorded for energy prices in the yearly comparison. The relevance of alternative energy sources will increase significantly in future, as energy price increases are expected to continue in the long term.

While energy prices rose by 6.7% in September 2010 compared with September 2009, the consumer price index, a measure of inflation, only rose by 1.9%. Especially all fuels and heating oil have risen dramatically. But gas, however, is cheaper than before. This is what is shown by the EPI (energy price index).
