Austria's Historical Responsibility: 30 Years of the National Fund and the Promise of “Never Forget”
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the National Fund of the Republic of Austria for Victims of National Socialism, Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen reaffirmed the country's ongoing responsibility for Nazi crimes. The federal government and the Jewish Community of Vienna (IKG) are also intensifying their joint fight against anti-Semitism in view of the alarmingly high number of incidents.

Simon Wiesenthal Prize 2024 Honors the Commitment of Swiss “Gamaraal Foundation”
This year's Simon Wiesenthal Prize was awarded in the Vienna Parliament to outstanding initiatives and individuals who are committed to combating anti-Semitism and raising awareness about the Holocaust. The main prize, worth €15,000, went to the Swiss Gamaraal Foundation.

Austria Plans Holocaust Museum: Government Launches Feasibility Study
The Austrian Federal Government unanimously approved a feasibility study for establishing a Holocaust Museum. This marks the start of a politically and socially significant process which - more than 80 years after the end of the Second World War - is intended to permanently anchor the memory of the systematic extermination of Jewish life by the Nazi regime in the center of the capital.

Austria Strengthens Partnership With Yad Vashem in the Fight Against Anti-Semitism
Dani Dayan, Chairman of the Jerusalem Holocaust Memorial Yad Vashem, visited Vienna to strengthen the close partnership between Israel and Austria. Dayan met with both Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer. Both emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in the fight against anti-Semitism and in preserving the memory of the Shoah.

Austrian Foreign Minister Schallenberg Thanks Descendants of Nazi Expellees for Regaining Austrian Citizenship
Together with the President of the Jewish Community Vienna, Oskar Deutsch, the Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg presented the new publication "Wir und Österreich - Austria and us". This moving publication tells the stories of 15 descendants of victims of National Socialism who share their memories, feelings, hopes, and expectations in connection with regaining Austrian citizenship.

60 Years of the Documentation Archive of Austrian Resistance
The Documentation Centre of Austrian Resistance (DÖW), an important institution in the reappraisal of Austria's Nazi past, is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Founded in 1963 by former resistance fighters and victims of Nazi persecution as well as committed academics, the DÖW has played a central role in researching and communicating the history of resistance against the Nazi regime.

Mauthausen Memorial Research Award 2022 Awarded
The Mauthausen Memorial Research Award was presented for 2022 this year. The ceremonial presentation by the jury took place at the Vienna site of the concentration camp memorial. Two submissions convinced the jury of experts, consisting of representatives from contemporary history and memorial culture.

A commemorative plaque for the victims of Nazi military tribunals was unveiled today by Minister of Social Affairs Johannes Rauch, Minister of Justice Alma Zadić, Minister of Agriculture Norbert Totschnig and Minister of Labor and Economic Affairs Martin Kocher at the government building on Stubenring in Vienna.

On the 84th anniversary of the November pogroms, representatives of the Republic commemorated the victims with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Shoah Name Wall Memorial in Ostarrichipark.
