Despite long-term attractive returns of the ATX, Austrians are not eager to invest in shares.

Since 2 January 1991, the Vienna Stock Exchange calculates the Austrian Traded Index ATX. The ATX contains the 20 most liquid shares, the so-called blue chips of the Vienna Stock Exchange.
