Poland’s new Treasury Minister Wlodzimierz Karpinski announced on Wednesday to carry out an urgent audit at Polish state-controlled oil and natural gas company PGNiG.

The step could involve the firing of personnel at the company after an unpleasant incident had occurred which embarrassed the government. "Every responsible (official) has to carry out a review, an audit, first and then make decisions," Karpinski said. "I will carry out such an audit in the way needed, in other words urgently."
