For Christoph Leitl, the President of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ), the recently resolved austerity package does not contain the essential reforms.

Leitl thinks that another austerity package will be needed after the next federal election in 2013. “The big reforms do not take place.” For Leitl, the package is not enough. Leitl emphasized that he already forecasted the need of another austerity package in autumn 2010, when the government agreed on new taxes and social cuts.
