The European Commission has extended its partial financing commitment for the Brenner tunnel. However, appropriate measures must be taken soon. Deliberations are still underway at present.

EU financing for the Brenner base tunnel was extended for two years: the commitment is now until 2015. EU funding for the nine-billion euro (12.5 billion dollars) construction project amounts to 850 million euro (1.2 billion dollars).
