Several infrastructure projects will increase the debt burden of the Federal Railways dramatically. This could bring considerable effects for the financial situation of the whole Federation.

Due to huge projects, such as the so called „Koralmtunnel“, the Austrian Railways (ÖBB) experience a significant rise of their debs.
What is more, Austria could fail the Maastricht criteria persistently, if Brussels changes its accounting system. Until now, debts of certain outsourced infrastructure companies were not part of the overall debt burden of the Federation.…
