ECJ Bans Exhaust Software: Anschober and Gewessler Demand Changes

The European Court of Justice has decided to ban software used to embellish exhaust emission values in diesel cars. Austria's Climate Protection Minister Gewessler and Consumer Protection Minister Anschober hope for a move by the car manufacturers in order to provide retrofits and compensate injured consumers.

Following the European Court of Justice's (ECJ) ruling that bans software used to embellish exhaust emission values in diesel cars, Austria's Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler sees manufacturers as having to move next.

"Illegal software was used here. The manufacturers have accepted that harmful nitrogen oxide pollutes our air and damages our environment. I welcome the fact that this practice is now being stopped," states Gewessler. …
