Austrian Research Intensity to Reach 2.80% in 2012

According to a forecast of Statistics Austria, € 8.6bn are expected to be spent on research and development (R&D).

This corresponds to a research intensity of 2.80%, which is calculated as R&D expenditure in relation to the gross domestic product. Compared to 2011 the total Austrian R&D expenditure will increase by an estimated 4.2% from € 8.26bn to € 8.61bn. The estimated research intensity for 2011 is 2.74%; in 2010 it amounted to 2.79%.
