The gradual economic recovery has not yet reached the domestic labor market. The number of jobseekers in Austria has increased by 323,111 persons compared to the previous year.

According to the Labor Ministry, the month of August saw an increase of 11.7 percent in persons unemployed which is slightly below last month’s increase of 12 percent. Withouth the insolvencies of construction company Alpine and retailer daily, the increase would have only come at 11.1 percent.
