In total, 330,309 persons were looking for a job in May. Austria still has the lowest unemployment rate within the European Union.

The weak economic development in Austria and in Europe is reason for the massive increase in unemployment rate. The number of registered redundancies increased 9.0 percent compared with the previous month or by 20,818 persons to 251,895.
