New Educational Cooperation Between International Holocaust Memorial Yad Vashem and Austria Launched

An educational collaboration between Yad Vashem and the Austrian Parliament was formally established during the visit of the Director of the Holocaust Memorial, Dani Dayan. An agreement to work together against anti-Semitism was signed by Dani Dayan and Wolfgang Sobotka, the President of the National Council. Yad Vashem's partnership with a national parliament is the first of its kind in the world.

Number of Anti-Semitism Incidents in Austria Doubled

The Anti-Semitism Reporting Office of the Jewish Community Vienna (IKG) presented its semi-annual report for the first half of 2021. The report showed that the number of incidents had doubled from the same period of the previous year. It attributed the increase mainly to Israel-related anti-Semitism and anti-Semitism surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jewish Museum: "Café As. The Survival of Simon Wiesenthal"

Simon Wiesenthal is known today as the man who dedicated his life to justice for the victims of the Shoah. But his profession as an architect, which he pursued until his persecution by the Nazi regime, has fallen into oblivion. The exhibition "Café As. Das Überleben des Simon Wiesenthal" shows 80 detailed designs by Wiesenthal for the "Café As", which he made for the Polish prisoner Edmund Staniszewski, who repeatedly gave him food and thus saved his life.
