The German and the Polish Ministers of Foreign Affairs wrote a common article in The International Herald Tribune.

In order to overcome the crisis in the EU, the fiscal competence of the EU should be strengthened. The European Monetary Union should be based on a “sound fiscal policy” and “balanced budgets”. Westerwelle and Sikorski underlined the necessity of promoting growth and competitiveness. As a result, the economic policy must be centralized further, they claimed.
