The CEO of Erste Group, Andreas Treichl, is optimistic to achieve the prescribed 9% tier 1 capital quota by mid-2012.

EBA instructed that major European banks have to reach a capital quota of at least 9.0% by the end of June 2012. For Treichl, this is an “adequate figure for Erste Group.” The bank will achieve the figure by mid-2012, Treichl said: “With our leverage and our liquidity situation, this is really enough.” However, even larger tier 1 capital quotas would be not necessary.
