Strong Decline in Retail Trade Volume

The Austrian retailers recorded a 2.3% drop in trading volume in May. It was the fourth highest decline of all EU member countries.

According to calculations by Eurostat, the volume of retail trade fell by 1.1% in both the euro area and the EU27. The most negative developments were registered in Denmark (-3.7%), Portugal (-3.1%) and Germany (-2.8%). Austria recorded the fourth highest decline of all EU member countries. Trade volume in the retail sector fell by 2.3% in May.
