Austrian Retail Trade Accelerates Economic Upward Trend

In 2010, the Austrian retail trade rose by 4.0%. Thus, this figure represents the highest retail trade growth since the 1990s.

Based on first calculations by Statistics Austria for the year 2010, the Austrian turnover in retail trade at nominal values increased by 4.0% and sales increased by 2.3%, compared to 2009. Due to an excellent Christmas trade, turnover in December 2010 rose by 4.5% at nominal values and sales by 2.3% in comparison to the same month of the year before.
