Hard data point to a weakening of activity in the fourth quarter, but an improvement in the assessment of production expectations in industry indicates an improved outlook for 2013.

The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) for December increased by 2.9 points month-onmonth, to 87.0. In year-on-year terms the ESI fell by 7.2 points, mainly due to developments in the second and third quarters of 2012.
