Inflation Speeds Up in July

Consumer price inflation rose to 3.5% in July, the highest value since September 2008. Mineral oil products remained the main price driver.

The annual inflation rate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI 2010) measured by Statistics Austria increased to 3.5% in July 2011 (June, May, April: 3.3%). This value, the highest since September 2008 (3.8%), was mainly driven by price development of mineral oil products. Without mineral oil products July's inflation rate would have amounted to 2.7%.
