Inflation Falling Slightly in August

Consumer price inflation dropped to 3.4% in August. Above-average price increases were registered for traffic and household energy.

The annual inflation rate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI 2010) measured by Statistics Austria was 3.4% in August 2011 (July 3.5%, June and May 3.3%). This slight decrease was due to the moderate price development of food products. Prices of mineral oil products were still on a high level. Without mineral oil products the inflation rate would have been 2.6%.
