Today, both Chancellor Werner Faymann and Finance Minister Michael Spindelegger had to explain their actions in regard to Hypo Group Alpe Adria in parliament.

Werner Kogler, budget spokesman of the Austrian Green Party, called it “not a only banking crisis” but “a financial crime.” He intends to present documents proving that officials at the Finance Ministry were forced to gloss over the results of the problem banks to receive further financial means. Kogler calls for a dismissal of both former Governor of the Austrian National Bank…
