Gigasport Withdraws from Czech Republic and Slovakia

The Austrian sports brand closes twelve branches in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. 280 workers are affected.

According to the board member Andreas Zinschitz, the drastic step was necessary due to the bad development in the market for sports articles. The branches were considerably loss-making last year. Eleven branches in the Czech Republic and one in Slovakia (Bratislava) will be shut down until summer 2012.
