Rating agency Fitch has downgraded the creditworthiness of five Slovenian Banks.

The long-term Issuer Default Rating (IDR) of the two biggest banking institutes of the country, NLB (Nova Ljubljanska Banka) and NKBM (Nova Kreditna Banka) has been lowered to junk status. Three further banks, Banka Celje, Gorenjska banka and Probanka have slipped even below that. For two banks, Abanka and Banka Koper, the rating was affirmed. The outlook for all banks is negative.
