Eastern Europe as Growing Market for Austrian Wine Exports

Around 80% of the Austrian wine exports are going to Germany. However, growth rates in Russia and Poland are surprisingly high.

Poland is seen as future market for Austrian wine exporters. In 2010, exports to Poland grew by 63%. In the premium segment, trade rose by 260%. According to Christian Dworan from the AWO (export service center) in Warsaw, the average price for a bottle of Austrian wine is already at € 2.00.
