After having been in office for ten years, Czech President Vaclav Klaus left Prague Castle. Today, Friday March 8, his sucessor Milos Zeman is going to be sworn in.

During his two terms in office, Klaus presented himself as an opponent to the EU and polarized the public with his abrasive criticism about social policy, gay rights and global warming, which he claimed did not exist. “I do not want the Czech Republic to become merged with Europe like a sugar cube in a cup of coffee” was just one of his quotes.
