Raiffeisen Landesbank Oberösterreich (RLB Upper Austria) has appointed Armin Burger as new supervisory board president of the Vivatis food company. Burger was previously CEO of the food discounter group Hofer. Burger takes office with immediate effect.

In his new function, Burger is to undertake further expansion of Vivatis in Germany, and develop in Switzerland and especially in Eastern Europe.

RLB comments positively in advance about the new chairman: "He knows how to bring Austrian shelf-ready quality products to non-Austrian shelves, getting Austria even more into the value chain and to become gradually less substitutable in the quality field with strong brands”.

Burger (47) was active in the 1990s at Aldi in Germany and Great Britain. Between 1999 and the end of 2008, he served as Director General of Hofer KG in Austria, being responsible for successful expansion. Afterwards, Burger became a member of the management of Aldi Süd, responsible among other tasks for the worldwide coordination of the Aldi Group.

The Vivatis group achieved sales for € 763m in 2010, of which 19% were exports. For 2011, sales for € 800m are planned. 2,600 people are employed by Vivatis.
