Employees of more than 140 Austrian companies went on strike after negotiators had failed to agree on wage increases.

On Wednesday evening, the representatives of the employee and the employer side left the table after seven hours of negotiations without agreement. Shortly afterwards, Rainer Wimmer (industrial union PRO-GE) and Karl Proyer (Union of Private Sector Employees, GPA) announced works meetings and warning strikes for today, Thursday, as well as temporary total strikes for Friday.
