Austrians Buy Less – Sales in Retail Trade Dropped 0.8%

Sales volume of food retail trade was up 0.3% in the first half of the year while the non-food sector registered a decline by 0.8%.

According to preliminary results of Statistics Austria for the first half of the year 2011, sales of the Austrian retail trade decreased by 0.8% compared to the first half of 2010. In contrast, the results in nominal terms show a turnover rise by 3.0% due to rising prices. These calculations are based on a number of 149 working days – one sales day more than the year…
