Austrian Inflation Rate Increases up to 3.1%

Consumer Price Inflation (HICP) jumped to 3.1% in February 2011, which is mainly due to the increase in prices for energy, fuel, rents and foodstuffs.

The annual inflation rate of the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices measured by Statistics Austria was 3.1% (January 2.5%), the all item index (HICP 2005) was 111.75 in February 2011 (January 110.86 revised). This was the highest rate since September 2008 (3.7%), even higher than the national CPI.
