Austrian Government Provides Humanitarian Assistance for Lebanon

Austria provides supplies and financial aid for severely impacted Lebanon after explosion disaster at the beginning of August. In total, about EUR 2 million are provided.

The severe explosion disaster in the port of Beirut (Lebanon) on 4 August 2020, left around 4,000 people injured, some of them seriously, and many more were made homeless.
The authorities recently confirmed more than 200 fatalities. The remaining intact health facilities are working at the limits of their capacity to provide adequate care for the large number of injured.
The Government of Lebanon has therefore approached the European Commission with a request for assistance in dealing with this disaster.
