In 2010, 404,733 vacancies were reported, representing an increase of 50,575 jobs over 2009.

A record in terms of reported vacancies is reported by the Arbeitsmarktservice (AMS, Employment Market Service) for 2010: a total of 404,733 open positions were reported to the AMS, 50,575 jobs equivalent to 14,3% more than in 2009. In the ten-year comparison, the number of positions to be filled increased by as much as 92,501, equivalent to 29.6%.
