For 75 years, the Liberation Monument (also known as Soviet War Memorial) on Schwarzenbergplatz has been shaping the architectural image of one of the most beautiful squares in the centre of the Austrian capital.
It is a special symbol of Russian-Austrian and European history. Unveiled on August 19, 1945, it was the first monument of its kind in honor of the Soviet soldiers killed in World War II in Europe. …
