Guenter Geyer, the head of the Austrian insurance company quoted by the Polish daily Gazeta Prawna confirmed the interest in an auction of the Warta Insurance and Reinsurance Company.

Vienna Insurance Group does not have to acquire new capital by issuing new shares if it decides to buy Polish Warta form the Belgian financial group KBC – he said. The largest in Eastern Europe insurance company has available € 1.5bln, which can be spent on acquisitions without having to raise new funds in the capital markets.
