Vienna Airport: Resistance Against Third Landing Strip

In 2020, 30m Passengers are expected at VIA. Thus, a third landing strip is essential, VIA´s management argues. However, citizen movements oppose to the plan.

After a proceeding of twelve years, Vienna International Airport will get a new landing strip, VIA´s management announced recently. Above all, the environment impact assess took a lot of time. The construction costs are expected to reach about € 2.0bn.

In 1990, Vienna International Airport recorded 5.5 million passengers. This year, about 22 million passengers are expected.…
