Unemployment - Total number of persons unemployed down by 12.5%

In the third quarter of 2010, the total number of persons unemployed according to international definitions was 194,100, a decrease of 27,700 persons (-12.5%) compared to the third quarter of 2009.

The unemployment rate is estimated to be 4.5% and therefore below last year’s corresponding figure (5.1%).

Unemployment rates of men and women show same trends. For men, the unemployment rate decreased from 5.1% in the third quarter of 2009 to currently 4.6%, the unemployment rate of women decreased from 5.1% to 4.3%.
