The staff of AUA demonstrated against the currently stalled collective  negotiations. For the 1,600 people, at least an inflation compensation of about 2% about should come about. In addition, severance payments are also points of contention. Strike threats are also looming. The authorization to strike has already been requested from the Trade Union Federation (Gewerkschaftsbund).

During the demonstrations, there were already the first, albeit short delays for passengers and general traffic problems. The staff meeting will be held on Tuesday, should it come to no agreement on Monday. In this case, a strike could actually be decided.

On side of the AUA the reply is that the demand for an inflation adjustment was never agreed on. There is a written agreement that there would be no further wage increases for 2011. Employee representatives consider that AUA is turning confrontational. "This was not the spirit of the 150-million package of austerity measures, which we supported. We have fulfilled our part, the management has not done so yet ", said work councilor Junghans. Just recently, the staff agreed to a wage cut of 5% as well as the reduction of 600 jobs. Junghans also criticized: "We have fifteen to twenty percent more passengers with fifteen to twenty percent less staff."

AUA replies that there is indeed an attitude of compromise, through a one-time payment of € 300 per person, but concessions by check-in are expected in exchange. Moreover, AUA is proposing a profit-sharing model to the staff.
