Stress Test: Erste Group and Raiffeisen Passed, Volksbank Failed

Volksbanken Group is the only Austrian bank that failed the stress test. Taking into account the measures that are currently being implemented, the core tier I ratio would be above the benchmark.

The result is not surprising: Erste Group and Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) have passed the European Banking Authority’s (EBA) stress test. Volksbanken Group (VBAG), however, has failed.

Erste Group’s core tier I ratio would be 8.1% in 2012 under the assumptions of a negative scenario (after 8.7% at the end of the year 2010). For RBI, a ratio of 7.8% was calculated…
