Slovakia: Employment Situation Improves Further

In November 2012, compared with November 2011, the employment increased relatively most in selected market services by 11,2 %.

It was also higher in information and communication by 6,7 %, in accommodation by 0,9 %, in food and beverage service activities by 0,4 %. In the rest of the surveyed sectors the number of employed persons continued to decrease. It decreased relatively most in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 5,7 % and in construction by 5,6 %.

Over the first eleven months of 2012, on average, 496,2 thous. persons were employed in industry (450,2 thous. in manufacturing), 165,7 thous. in construction, 151,7 thous. in retail trade, 140,3 thous. in selected market services, 109,9 thous. in transportation and storage, 94,1 thous. in wholesale, 40 thous. in information and communication, 28,9 thous. in food and beverage service activities, 20 thous. in sale and repair of motor vehicles and 9,6 thous. in accommodation.

Compared with the corresponding period of 2011, the employment increased in selected market services by 10,4 %, in information and communication by 5,8 %, in accommodation by 1,6 %, in food and beverage service activities by 0,8 %. It decreased in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 5 %, in construction by 4,4 %, in transportation and storage by 2,1 %, in retail trade by 1,2 %, in industry by 0,7 % and in in wholesale by 0,6 %.
