Serbia Asks China for Loan

The Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic asked the Chinese Exim Bank for a € 850m loan in order to realize construction projects. IMF is not satisfied with Serbia´s austerity policies yet.

The deal between Serbia and the Chinese Exim bank is expected to be signed at the end of 2012. The Serbian government aims to enlarge the highway network in central Serbia. Construction works should begin in early 2013, Dinkic said. The Chinese bank underlined that Serbia is the bank´s only partner in Southeastern Europe.
