The new core shareholder of Telekom Austria, Ronny Pecik, plans to acquire further shares. He will enter the supervisory board.

Pecik ended speculations about the former CEO Boris Nemsic. Market observers stated that Pecik wants the former manager to enter the supervisory board. Moreover, newspapers reported that the management contract with CEO Ametsreiter could be cancelled ahead of time. The CEO of Orange, Michael Krammer, the CEO of Austrian Post, Georg Pölzl and Boris Nemsic, who left the management board of Telekom Austria in 2009, were treated as successors.

Now Pecik stopped the rumors and showed support for Ametsreiter. Pecik underlined to have agreed on a partnership with Ametsreiter. A come-back of Nemsic has been excluded – even for the supervisory board. However, Pecik aims to enter the supervisory board himself. “Telekom Austria needs a re-start and nobody from the past can take over new responsibilities.” Regarding the largest investor, the state holding ÖIAG, Pecik said: “ÖIAG is holding. And I want to act as entrepreneur. We will argue reasonably and find a rational solution.”

The current share of 16% will be extended, Pecik says, but he did not announce a concrete threshold. Until now, Pecik invested € 600m in Telekom Austria. For Pecik, his only partner is the Egyptian financial investor Naguib Sawiris.
