One week after assuming office, Bulgaria’s new Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski announced that the social and economic situation in the country has reached an all-time low.

On Wednesday, the new cabinet held their first formal session. "I have sufficient grounds to claim that the situation in the country has never been worse," was Oresharski's dire diagnosis. "I am not talking only about financial and economic figures, but also about problems in the public sector and people's despair," illuminated the Bulgarian Prime Minister.
